This blog post will be highlighting some of my favorite portrait shots I've taken over the years after developing SubZero Digital. I've been a portrait photographer for over three years now and I've loved every minute of it. I'd like to include this piece into my Marketing Campaign to show the progress and amazing works I've produced over the years. Without further ado, here are SubZero Digital's Top 10 Shots.
10. "Marley"

Date: July, 2017
Model: Jaylin Slaughter
'Cam-fo': 50mm, f/1.8, ISO 100
Snippet: This was taken in Jaylin's backyard. We've been good friends since high school and on this particular day, the sun was beating in a way where I had to get a photo. Funnily, Jaylin’s hairstyle was very brand new, and having it in any other position caused him to wince in pain (like a huge baby). I thought taking the photo with his hair looking like this would look silly, but I’m glad I did!
9. "Thirsty?"

Date: August, 2018
Model: Talen Bannister
'Cam-fo': 50mm, f/1.8, ISO100
Snippet: This was taken in front of my own house. The original photo was against a white wall, but with some careful editing, I complied different colors to create new backgrounds. I couldn’t figure out which I liked the most, so I made them all into one photo! In the photo, Talen is drinking from a Hubert’s Lemonade bottle. Surprisingly, the owners of @hubertslemonade on Instagram saw the photo, liked it, and left us a comment - amazing!
8. "Views From the Roof"

Date: March, 2019
Model: Talen Bannister
'Cam-fo': 28mm, f/3.5, ISO100
Snippet: This was taken on the roof of the Galleria Mall in White Plains. Behind him are the two buildings that are the Ritz Carlton. The hotel is over 40 stories high, so you can imagine how high we were. My favorite feature of this shot however is the sun beating off of the top of the tower. For some reason, I think it gives the photo a little more personality. Similar to Jaylin, Talen and I have been friends for years, taking photos with him is always a delight.
7. "Watercolors"

Date: January, 2018
Model: Jaylin Slaughter
'Cam-fo': 50mm, f/1.8, ISO400
Snippet: This was taken on the roof of an apartment building here in White Plains. There were views of the city in the background of the photo, but I chose a lens to narrow the depth of field (which means the background is blurry) because I liked the way Jaylin’s skin looked against the watercolor-looking sky.
6. "Franchesca's Fence"

Date: October, 2017
Model: Franchesca Mambru
'Cam-fo': 50mm, f/1.8, ISO100
Snippet: This photo was taken in another section of the Galleria roof. I have taken photos of other people in front of this fence, but I believe Franchesca was one of the first. Since I posted her photo on the SZD instagram account, a few of my clients have requested similar photos in front of the fence - I thought it’d only be right if I named this photo (and the fence) after her.
5. "Splatter Brain"

Date: January, 2018
Model: Jaylin Slaughter
'Cam-fo': 50mm, f/1.8, ISO400
Snippet: In the same apartment building as Watercolors, this photo is one of my favorites for a reason. I’ll admit that I’m not very great with the editing process, but this photo came out pretty great. Originally, this photo was taken of Jaylin in a profile view against a blank wall. Sometime during the editing period, I thought it’d be a cool idea to add a sort of “splattering” to the background, instead of looking at just a blank wall (similar to “Thirsty?”).
4. "Midnight"

Date: August, 2017
Model: Ayshia Williams
'Cam-fo': 50mm, f/1.8, ISO100
Snippet: To bring up the whole editing thing again, I’m very much an amateur when it comes to that sort of stuff. However, this photo right here is amazing to me. Would you believe me if I told you that I took this photo in broad daylight? It was about 3 or 4 o’clock in the afternoon on this day, at the same Greenway where I captured “Prom-ise”. I don’t really recall how I managed to get the photo to look like this, I might have lowered the contrast and the brightness, but who knows...
3. "Window Silk"

Date: March, 2019
Model: Gabrielle Pinto
'Cam-fo': 50mm, f/1.8, ISO100
Snippet: Oh Gabby, my best friend! She asked me to take pictures of her at her home for a school project, but of course, I kept some of them for the SZD archives. This one is my favorite out of all of them (hence why it made this list). This was taken at her living room window sill. For some reason, the light coming in from behind her, combined with the ISO measure makes for a great flick.
2. "Prom-ise"

Date: June, 2017
Model: Amala Davis
'Cam-fo': 50mm, f/1.8, ISO100
Snippet: If you couldn’t tell, this was taken on Amala’s prom day back in 2017. The Bronx River Greenway supplied us with a great backdrop for her special day photos. It was almost 90 degrees that day, but we persevered! Look at how great she looks!
1. "Aaron"

Date: November, 2016
Model: Aaron Corion
'Cam-fo': 55mm, f/3.5, ISO100
Snippet: Here we are at the very last photo, the very best photo. Strangely, this is the oldest one on the list and was taken only a month after I purchased my very own DSLR. I met Aaron during my first semester at Buffalo State, and though I didn’t stay there long, I got the opportunity to work with some amazing people, camera wise. I wanted to keep the name of the photo simple, and since to me the photo is so iconic, I decided to title it after him.
